 Kia may assemble Apple cars

Last December, Apple said it was planning to launch a self-driving car by 2024. After that, there were reports that the Cupertino-based company was talking to several automakers for a possible tie-up.

About a month ago, South Korean automaker Hyundai said, "Apple and Hyundai are in discussions, but they are at an early stage and nothing has been decided."
Now, a report by Wall Street Journal said Kia Motors has reached out to potential partners to assemble Apple EV cars in Georgia, US.

If the talks materialise, Apple may follow the same pattern it uses to make iPhones for its EV cars.

A Korean media report said Apple was set to make a multi-billion dollar investment in Kia as part of the deal, which could be announced February 17, and that the firms planned to produce 100,000 vehicles per year from 2024.
